Ginger steals everybody’s heart. He asked his mother and his mother said Ginger because he looks like ginger and has quality of ginger. By the way, The Hundred Dresses is a perfect little children’s book, and especially perfect for little girls, of which I have two. There’s nothing objectionable in the book, just some plain old neighborhood adventures. Then, eztes disappeared a chapter later and wasn’t seen for the rest of the book.

But on every other level the emotions and thought processes of the Pye children as they acquire their first dog are universally experienced and shared. This book would have been nice enough as an everyday account of family life but pys mystery unfolds that really kept us guessing.
